We are seeking scientists to join multi-disciplinary R&D team working to develop enzyme replacement and gene therapies for the treatment of various LSDs. We are currently searching for qualified individuals to join our team in the following roles:

Research Scientist – Molecular Biology

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and engineer proteins for gene therapy and enzyme replacement therapy
  • Identify and evolve enzymes for increased activity, stability, and/or specificity
  • Independently design, engineer, and assemble protein expression constructs in mammalian expression cells
  • Perform in vitro cell studies to identify enzyme candidates
  • Work closely with team members to evaluate novel proteins for experimentally determined biochemical and biophysical properties
  • Maintain organized and detailed records, SOPs, and data to support regulatory filings
  • Present and discuss data clearly at internal meetings

Required qualifications

  • Ph.D in relevant scientific discipline or Master’s degree with 2-3 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated molecular biology experience in DNA cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, gene knockout, and transient transfection
  • Experience in enzyme evolution and CRISPR-cas9 Knock-out cell line is a plus
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary start-up environment that is highly collaborative, fast-paced, and team-oriented
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills

Research Scientist – Gene Therapy

Responsibilities include:

  • Support AAV and Lenti vector design aimed at enhancing cell targeting and transduction
  • Design and perform cell-based assays for novel gene therapies
  • Produce viral material to support proof of concept animal studies
  • Generate preclinical gene therapy efficacy data in relevant animal models
  • Maintain organized and detailed records, SOPs, and data to support regulatory filings
  • Present and discuss data clearly at internal meetings

Required qualifications

  • Ph.D in relevant scientific discipline or Master’s degree with 4-6 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in AAV/Lentivirus virology
  • Experience in preclinical viral animal work is a plus
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary start-up environment that is highly collaborative, fast-paced, and team-oriented
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills

Research Scientist – Protein Science

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop lysosomal protein specific assays to evaluate N-linked oligosaccharides on glycoproteins
  • Develop specific reagents for the characterization of lysosomal glycoproteins
  • Develop and qualify analytical assays to support biological drug development
  • Perform analytical characterization during the purification process
  • Support analytical assay transfer and process scale up
  • Serve on and/or lead departmental and inter-departmental teams
  • Write and review internal and external developmental reports

Required qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biology or Biochemistry (or relevant discipline), and minimum of 3 years of glycobiology experience or MS in Biology or Biochemistry (or relevant discipline), and minimum of 6 years of glycobiology experience or BS in Biology or Biochemistry (or relevant discipline), and minimum of 10 years of glycobiology experience
  • Lectin chromatography techniques for glycoprotein analysis.
  • Enzymatic or chemical modification of glycoproteins
  • Structural N-linked oligosaccharide characterization of glycoproteins
  • Glycoprotein: Receptor binding assay development
  • Experience with HPAEC-PAD methodology used for glycobiology research
  • Enzymatic assay development – colorimetric, fluorescent, and isotopic
